A mixed program of dance featuring a special new collaboration with Eagle Song Dancers and an excerpt from Aeriosa’s In Situ, which premiered as part of the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad.
Traditional canoe singer/dancer Bob Baker and Artistic Director of Aeriosa Julia Taffe, will lead a shared ceremony of Squamish song and dance recalling an ancient Coast Salish ritual of respect for the traditional territories of others. Squamish canoe drum dancing combined with Aeriosa’s signature vertical choreography, will truly celebrate 10,000 years of Squamish culture in the 125th anniversary of modern-day Vancouver.
Aeriosa resumes their relationship with architecture, live music and vertical dance with the generous support of the Vancouver Public Library.
With support from the City of Vancouver’s 125th Anniversary Grants Program and the participation of the Government of Canada.
