The project will engage, inspire honour and celebrate Vancouver’s older adults in our community through community social events and the Lifelong Journey mini biographies documented in a Poster Project. These celebrations will take place in 14 locations in Vancouver, Community Centres, Aboriginal Friendship Centre, South Granville Senior’s Centre, and 411 Seniors Centre. We are targeting 42 Vancouver seniors for the Lifelong Journey Project (3 elders at each location) and plan to celebrate with our partners and hundreds of community members.

This project will highlight the history of Vancouver’s local communities through the Lifelong Journeys of each of the 42 seniors amazing stories. We will be engaging local youth in the project to interview and record the elders selected in their community.

To celebrate Vancouver’s 125th anniversary, Little Mountain Neighbourhood House (LMNHS) will organize two events: a tour of the city and a Birthday Party.  LMNHS will rent a tour bus and invite community members to a three hour tour of the city.  The tour will include an orientation at City Hall and visits to popular attractions, neighbourhoods, and distinct cultural communities.  Participants will be encouraged to take pictures during the tour and these photos will be placed on display at the Birthday Party.  The Birthday Party will be held at LMNHS.  Food from different cultures will be offered at the party in order to emphasize and embrace the diversity and cultures that exist within our community and Vancouver.
