The Vancouver 125 Banquet on Granville during TELUS TaiwanFest will feature Taiwanese delicacies with Vancouver flavours. A street banquet is one of the most important forms of celebration in Taiwanese culture; weddings, birthdays, religious rituals and business grand openings are occasions to celebrate with street banquets. Granville was once the name for Vancouver before the city’s incorporation in 1886 and memories of Granville Street for Vancouverites past and present are very colourful and splendid. TELUS TaiwanFest aims to reinvent the popular Taiwanese tradition of the street banquet to celebrate Vancouver’s 125 birthday by integrating the two cultures and creating a new tradition on Granville Street.
With support from the City of Vancouver’s 125th Anniversary Grants Program and the participation of the Government of Canada.
