“It took Vancouver a hundred years to prepare itself for the Carnegie Newsletter,” says Paul Taylor, its volunteer editor since Dec 15, 1986. This paper is the voice of people in the Downtown Eastside. Its now 1200 copies per 16-44 page editions come out on the 1st & 15th of each month, 23 times a year. This is a celebratory event to honour volunteer contributors of written articles, poetry, local graphic art and more on all manner of issues involved in the lives and living of residents & people of our community. Kudos have included amazing, extraordinary, and various expressions of “the major media has nothing like this!”
With support from the City of Vancouver’s 125th Anniversary Grants Program and the participation of the Government of Canada.
