“Vancouver Snapshots 125” is a multi-dimensional musical exploration of the rich cultural heritage of Vancouver over the past 125 years. In concerts, symposia and workshops, the Turning Point Ensemble will join with the Orchid Ensemble, soprano Heather Pawsey and curator David Duke, to present a series of snapshots of key historical periods in Vancouver’s past. The programming will include re-creation of temperance ballads, Chinese immigrant cultural experience, the age of opulence, and the coming of age of Vancouver as a global city. Vancouver Snapshots 125 will feature a gala concert at the Roundhouse on the evening of Saturday September 10 and a series of musical walking tours on Sunday September 11.
With support from the City of Vancouver’s 125th Anniversary Grants Program and the participation of the Government of Canada.
