Trout Lake Aboriginal Day

The Annual “Trout Lake Aboriginal Day” celebrates the diversity of Aboriginal people from across Canada as people gather to share experiences, stories, songs, traditional games and dances. People of all ages and cultural backgrounds are invited to join us for a day of cultural celebrations. Come connect to Canada’s heritage - learn about and enjoy the distinctive languages and symbols from Métis, Inuit and First Nations people.

The organizing committee for Trout Lake Aboriginal Day includes: VACFSS - Vancouver Aboriginal Child & Family Services Society; VAFCS - Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre Society; The Trout Lake Community Centre, BYRC - Broadway Youth Resource Centre; Spiritlink Communications; UNYA - Urban Native Youth Association; Canadian Red Cross; Canadian Armed Forces; and KAYA - Knowledgeable Aboriginal Youth Association.

Schedule of Activities:
9:00 am - 11:00 am: Pancake Breakfast (free) at Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre Society 1607 East Hastings - Entertainment & speeches

11:00 am - 12:00 pm: March up to Trout Lake - 3550 Victoria Drive, via Commercial Drive

12:00 - 5:00 pm: Activities at Trout Lake - 3550 Victoria Drive

    ʔəyasθət ce:p Cultural Celebration with Musqueam First Nation


    Date: Tuesday, June 21 – National Aboriginal Day; Saturday, June 25 – Canadian Citizenship Ceremony; Friday, August 12 - Cultural Dialogues with Musqueam Partners

    In late June, Musqueam First Nation will host several days of celebration to commemorate Vancouver’s 125th Anniversary. Events will include National Aboriginal Day festivities and the first Canadian Citizenship Ceremony to be held on a First Nation reserve. Musqueam’s Cultural Celebration will be a grand celebration of art, culture and heritage, fostering awareness and creating long-lasting relationships between the Musqueam community and the surrounding communities in the City of Vancouver. We look forward to celebrating Vancouver’s growing diversity and Musqueam’s lasting cultural pride.
