Get to know Vancouver’s only cemetery and celebrate 125 years of service. Join us for a day of walking tours (and even a bicycle tour!) that will explore the history, people, and events that have shaped Mountain View Cemetery. Learn about our first burials (and what really happened to Simon Hirshberg) and see how Mountain View is preparing for the future with our award winning Columbaria.
Why not bring a picnic? You can enjoy 106 acres of green space in the heart of the city along with spectacular views of the city and mountains.
Walking Tours will be led by:
- John Atkin - Civic Historian (www.johnatkin.com)
- Maurice Guibord - Researcher of social, cultural and material history
- Lorraine Irving - BC Genealogical Society (www.bcgs.ca)
- Chris Mathieson - Historian and Interpreter
