Please join us in Gastown on June 12th 2011 for a celebration of our 125th anniversary and commemoration of the Great Fire of 1886. The day will begin with a parade of fire trucks from different eras including a must see 1889 horse drawn steam engine. Following the parade, stop by Gastown to see the history of your fire department, talk to a fire fighter, jump onto a fire truck and enjoy some great music courtesy of the VFRS Band.
Parade: 10:00 am
Parade Route: begins at Gore and Cordova, heads north on Gore to Powell, west on Powell to Carrall.
Event: 11:00 – 4:00 pm, Gastown (Powell and Carrall)
Opening Ceremonies with Mayor Gregor Robertson: 12:00 pm
With support from the City of Vancouver’s 125th Anniversary Grants Program and the participation of the Government of Canada.

Just listening to Capt. Roder as the VFRS are working to deal with the Stanley Cup riot. Shameful acts met with stoic professionalism.
God Bless the VFRS. Thanks, people.
I’m with the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Service Band, and I’d love to let you know that we had a wonderful time at the event! Thanks so much to everyone who came out and celebrated with us.
I made up a little video recapping the day, from the band’s perspective and using some of our own music (of course!), and thought you might enjoy it, too. Just go to our YouTube channel, firefightersband, and flip a coin (only two videos in there so far)!
Happy Birthday, Vancouver!
