Annabel Vaughan is an intern architect and city thinker. Veda Hille is a musician and city singer. Together they turn their attention to the False Creek Flats, to create an evening of song, stories, and thought. Looking at both the history and mythology of the Flats, Annabel and Veda will present a view of the area on a night in September at the Western Front. The audience will be given an artist-drawn map of False Creek at the end of the night, so that they can take themselves on a self-directed walk and see this part of the city from a new perspective. Presented by Theatre Replacement.

A Vancouver Summer Day

Location: Greater Vancouver
Website: www.healtharts.org

A Vancouver Summer Day is a one-hour performance piece celebrating the 125th anniversary of the City, scored for soprano, baritone, piano, violin and cello; both singers will act as narrators as well. Throughout August 2011, thirty performances will be presented for those isolated in long-term care in the Vancouver area. The program will be an evocation of Vancouver’s history in music. In addition to music specifically related to Vancouver and by Vancouver composers, the program will include works that will reflect elders’ sense of home and community, creating a synthesis of story, memory and melody.
