A Vancouver Summer Day is a one-hour performance piece celebrating the 125th anniversary of the City, scored for soprano, baritone, piano, violin and cello; both singers will act as narrators as well. Throughout August 2011, thirty performances will be presented for those isolated in long-term care in the Vancouver area. The program will be an evocation of Vancouver’s history in music. In addition to music specifically related to Vancouver and by Vancouver composers, the program will include works that will reflect elders’ sense of home and community, creating a synthesis of story, memory and melody.

With support from the City of Vancouver’s 125th Anniversary Grants Program and the participation of the Government of Canada.
