Excellent! My husband is a steam train “NUT” and an opportunity to ride the Empress 2816 is a dream. His model train layout is configured on the CPR and takes up one whole large room in our home - to give you an idea of his passion. Thank you so much for this opportunity and a happy 125th to Vancouver!

  4. Jack Schmidt says:

My wife and I were born in Vancouver, and the harbour is a very important part of my early years. I’d take the streetcar or bus to Pier C, to see the large cruise ships like the Aorangi from Australia, and later the Canberra. I also would visit the Vancouver Fire Boat. My wife’s parents lived on Cornwall Avenue overlooking the harbour and Kits beach. Early steam trains were also a wonderful way to travel as we both traveled with our parents to visit relatives in Alberta. I guess my age is showing, but the memories are still there.

  5. This is a wonderful celebration for the prettiest city in Canada.

  6. Maria Aragon says:

This is a very exciting contest to celebrate an important milestone in Vancouver’s history! It would be a thrill to win this contest as it’s been some 40 years since I’ve been on a train to anywhere and I would especially appreciate the beauty and majesty of the unfolding scenery and views throughout.

  13. Myron Claridge says:

I come from a CPR family; my uncle drove the Royal Hudson, 2860,in Provincial Museum/BC Ministry of Tourist service after he retired from the CPR. As with other Vancouverites,I treasure the CPR, its history and its connection with Vancouver-and the value of its rail service to the port. The value of 2816 to remind us and other Canadians of that connection and the role of the CPR in current transportation, is worth every cent spent on it.
