The City of Vancouver launched a project in 2010 called Dialogues between Aboriginal and Immigrant Communities in Vancouver. The project has brought together diverse Aboriginal and immigrant communities to create stronger relationships and develop shared interests.

For Vancouver 125, the expanded Dialogues Project will undertake two new initiatives that will integrate professional artists, with a focus on community engagement, into the process. A multi-media performance will be commissioned and based on ideas generated from the Dialogues process, incorporating stories from participants. Artists and researchers will document how communities interrelate, how personal stories are shared, and how the diverse cultural tapestry of the city can be reflected through sounds, images and movement. Secondly, the City of Vancouver will launch the ‘Deep Roots and New Beginnings’ initiative in the Grandview-Woodland neighbourhood, which will explore the intertwining stories of people and neighbourhoods, past and present, Aboriginal and newcomers. vancouver.ca/commsvcs/socialplanning/dialoguesproject
